Thanks to all those I've asked to intercede for me, saints or saint wannabes.

I have not been writing because I have been so busy trying to get into college. I've been running around to Rose State, UCO and home trying to get my transcripts to their proper place so that I can finally get into the University of Central Oklahoma. It took a lot from my dad's FedEx account, a lot of nagging the University transcript office, and an emergency call to my high school in the last hour, but today, I finally got into the University of Central Oklahoma as a Vocal Music performance major. I have a very uneven schedule, and I'm going to be on campus every day of the week. Things will be hectic, but praise God!

I'm finally a student with a major! Please pray that I do well this semester. Thank you all who have prayed for me. Now, I must get some much needed rest before starting my classes, and running around tying up some minor loose ends.

If you are reading this before 12:50 PM CST, please offer a prayer for yours truly. I'm trying out for voice lessons at UCO, and need all the help I can get. Thanks.

My friend Janet Wolf has entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. I am writing her a letter, and would like to give her a small gift. I gave my friend, Sr. Carrie Comitz, now Sr. Mary Faustina of Our Lady of Divine Mercy, a rosary blessed by the pope. I would like to do the same for my friend Janet. If there is anybody out there who can tell me how to get my hands on a papally blessed rosary, or even, out of the kindness of your little heart, send me one of yours, I would be most greatful. Maybe I can write the Vatican, does anybody know their adress? I hear that the italian postal service stinks, so if anybody has an extra papal blessed rosary on hand, let me know. I feel bad for asking, but she is my best friend.

The Handbook of Indulgences: Norms and Grants says this about the use of Devotional Objects

The Christian faithful obtain a partial indulgence when they make devout use of a devotional object (such as a crucifix or cross, a rosary, a scapular, or a medal) which has been rightly blessed by any priest or deacon.

If the devotional object has been blessed by the pople or by any bishop, the Christian faithful can obtain a plenary indulgence while making devout use of it on the solemnity of the holy apostles, Peter and Paul, provided they add to its use a profession of faith made in any legitimate formula.

My mother has paid my debt to UNT, and I am free to go to college again. Thanks be to God. Now, all I need to worry about is getting into college. I'm obviously cutting it very close, but I'm hoping and praying for the best. Please keep my parents in your prayers. I have a private intention, but I can tell you that it is for my parents. Pray for my brother too while you're at it. He will be going off to college very soon, and his presence will be missed in the house.

We celebrated both my brother's and my going to college today. My parents picked me up from vigil mass, and we went to Bahama Breeze again. My brother asked to buy and smoke a cigar, and my father agreed. Dad asked me if I wanted to join them with the cigars, but I decided against it. I told them that I'd stick to drinking. So, I got sloshed with my mother. She and I shared our first mojito. I found it refreshing, it reminded me of a limeade slushee from Sonic, but not as sweet. I'd say it was very refreshing. Since I'm unfamiliar with them in general, I don't have another mojito to compare them to. When we were done with the mojito, of which I drank most, my mother made me buy her a Grasshopper. That was nice, but I don't trust drinks that resemble milkshakes. I had my meal, an angus burger cooked medium rare, with a gin and tonic. The G&T is my signature drink. I considered buying a gimlet or a martini, but decided two drinks was enough for the night. Needless to say, I feel fantastic.

The other day, I went to a little Catholic bookstore that's hidden away inside an antique mall here in Edmond. It was nice, and I saw more than I expected to see in such a small space. I was hoping to find a rosary kit though, but was unlucky. I want to make a Chaplet of St. Anthony from the beads of a rosary my mother gave to me. It broke a long time ago, but I must find the chains and wires to make it possible.

Please pray for me. I have had trouble sleeping lately. I have a lot of things I'm grieving about. Mostly people who need my prayers because of stupid things they're doing in their own lives. I wonder if I care too much about other people's souls. When watching my friends fall keeps me up late at night, I have to wonder how not to share it with the world while still asking for help. Please keep me and all of the people who need my prayers in your prayers. This is just a shout out for a little spiritual help.

Over at Two Sleepy Mommies, they're talking about the terrible effects of High Fructose Corn Syrup. And how it's in everything. After learning the delightful news that there's a Coca-cola in the world that still uses Cane Sugar, it got me thinking that I should share a little secret with those of you who love the taste of Dr. Pepper.

Over in Dublin, they still make Dr. Pepper, nectar of the Texas gods, with Cane sugar. It is cool, crisp and refreshing. It's much better than the stuff with HFCS. Actually, once you take HFCS out of your diet, you'll find that real sugar in anything tastes better than things made with HFCS.

While I'm on the subject of sugar, I may as well share a recipe I found for Kettle corn. Yes, you can get it in the microwave packages now, but I'll always believe that anything that takes more time to do usually tastes better anyway.

1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup popcorn kernels

Heat a large pot over medium heat. When hot, add oil, popcorn and sugar and cover. Shake the pot constantly to keep the popped kernels from burning, and try to leave the lid slightly opened to let steam escape. Once popping has slowed down, remove from heat. Add salt. Wait to cool, or otherwise burn yourself with napalm hot sugar.

It sometimes occurs to me that I have no clue how old this blog is. I can't reference anything from blogspot, because I erased the archives at one point to get a fresh start. I don't have a starting date, and therefore, no way of celebrating a birthday for my blog. Not that I'd do that anyway, but I would like to know how long I've been writing in this thing.

Today, my best friend, my dearest love, Janet Rose Catherine Wolf became a Dominican Sister of St. Cecilia. I haven't written her in several months, but now, I know exactly where to send my letters. Please offer your prayers for her vocation, and mine. As she is so famous of saying, "There's no such thing as a coincidence. There's only God-incidences." There's certainly no coincidence that Janet joins the sisters on the feast day of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, the same great man who prayed the prayer that makes the title of the entry. I think this prayer has been the very theme of the deep friendship that Janet and I shared. The deepest hopes that both of us would one day become saints. God is so good, and I thank Him for calling Janet closer to Him in this way, and I pray for His will in Sr. Janet's life. Thank God for such beautiful people like Janet in this world.
