More Time To Blog

|

I got fired today.

I really apologize for dumping all this misery on you good readers, as of late. It's not as bad as it seems. I'm taking all that is happening in stride, and I am keeping a good attitude. I truly believe that whatever comes my way is in God's plans for me. Please, keep me in your prayers as I discern my next move.

Not A Motivational Speaker

|

This article on a priest beating up on some robbers is being blogged by pretty much everybody.

But has nobody else noticed that the priest's name is MATT FOLEY?!

"Now, I know you fellas think you're going to come in here and lay out your tools and try to crack open the collection box. You're just gonna grab the money and run off. Well, I'm here to tell you that your efforts are going to amount to JACK SQUAT!

Let me tell ya what's going to happen. I'm going to fight you, beat you down, and file charges against you. When you get out of prison, you'll be living in a VAN down by the RIVER!"

Another Car Vandalized

|

Last night, my brother's car had his new tires slashed. We just bought them yesterday. Needless to say, he's pretty pissed. Please keep the family in your prayers, and also the person commiting these crimes. Pray that he confesses, or is brought to justice swiftly.

Car vandalized

|

We have been taking care of a car that belongs to a friend of my brother's. He has been staying here with us for a number of months, but is currently with his family in Chile.

Last night, his car was vandalized in our driveway. The radio was stolen and the window was smashed.

Please, keep the neighborhood, my family and the friend of the family in your prayers as we try to figure out how to best deal with this situation. All of us seem to be taking this in stride, probably because it wasn't our car, but it could have been much worse.

Thank you

I promise, next month, I

|

I promise, next month, I will FORCE myself to write something everyday on this blog. I don't care if it's stupid. I will try to not make it about work.

My knee has been causing me a lot of problems lately. I may have to go in for surgery again. I have a broken tooth which needs to be fixed, and wisdom teeth that need to be removed. I have debts up to my ears from college, and if they're not paid soon, I won't be able to go to college in the fall. Happily, I'm already getting one of the major debts out of the way, so that shouldn't be so bad.

I've been trying to offer up the pain in my knee. God blessed me to be a man who suffers joyfully. There are people that I offer it up for. People who need God's guidance in coming back to the Church. People who are slowly killing themselves through their sins. They're kept in my prayers.

My friend Janet Rose Wolf will become a Dominican Sister of St. Cecilia in August. I have to write a letter to her soon, and I don't know what I'll say. While I'm happy for her, I will miss her greatly. She was a great source of strength and guidance to me during my early vocation search. Janet was the only girl I've ever considered marrying, but she didn't return my feelings. I've never met a girl with more love in her heart. Please, keep her in your prayers.

My friend Sr. Carrie is going to be clothed and named in the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word on July 16th. I'm still wondering if I can attend, but I think my debts may hold me back. I'm preparing a gift for her though. Since her confirmation saint was St. Rose of Viterbo, I'm going to ask her to do a novena to her for my vocation to the MFVAs.

I have decided to go back on my diet, and get down to 350 by september 30th. More details on that later.

No Title

|

I got that Gin and tonic I wanted. Tonight, I went to Bahama breeze, and enjoyed it with a New York strip, prepared medium rare, garlic mashed potatoes, and steamed asparagus. We were having a goodbye dinner for my grandmother, aunt and cousin. They will be leaving for Texas tomorrow morning. Please keep my family's safe travel in your prayers.

On a more personal note, please keep me in your prayers, as it looks like certain aspects of my life are about to change drastically over the next few days.

Forgive me for not writing lately. I've been more contemplative than usual.

On Work...and Alcohol

|

Please forgive me for not blogging as of late. It's very hard when you've promised yourself not to blog about work, and at the same time have a life that pretty much revolves around it. I just refuse to dump my days problems on the reading public. I've resisted all sorts of temptation to blog about how to unload your groceries if you'd like to have paper sacks. Nor will the crabby old ladies who want to take their bad days out on me make an appearance on this blog.

That being said, I'd like to take a moment to tell you how much I want a Gin and Tonic. I haven't had one in long while, and I was going to treat myself to one on my birthday. Unfortunately, I never got around to it. Now that we're entering the summer, it is becoming a more appropriate season for a nice cold G&T. Some nice Plymouth Gin mixed with Schweppes Tonic Water and a squirt of lime juice over a glass of tonic ice is like summer in my mouth. Another added bonus is that it's a drink that doesn't make your breath stink.

I'd better stop before I start sounding like The Old Oligarch. As if that were a bad thing...
